2/4 is more profitable on the whole for clearing bonuses, but the risk factor of playing with that many fish is high. On Party bonuses I either put up a pretty big black number (last Empire reload I left +$550) or an equally ugly red number (during my big downswing I dropped about 250 at 2/4 on a Party reload).
It all depends on why you play to clear bonuses. If you just want to take the money with the least amount of risk to you, 1/2 is it. With all the other tight players your variance will go down and you'll almost always make a small profit. If you want the chance to make the most, play 2/4 or 3/6 during bonus periods. That's where the fish run to. But the variance goes up...
