Topic: Why I love Party Bonuses Forum: Bonus Whores
Well, this is quite an interestig thread, so I'll add my story as well...

I guess I'm one of the older posters here (which I never thought I was until now) since I'm 28, go to school full time, and play poker about 20 hours a week. I actually got into it about year and a half ago playing the Hoyle casino game. I started figuring out how the game works and decided to lose $100 and try an online NL50 game last October. Needless to say, I found out that I was actually winning money from it, so I decided to read some books and get better. Then, I found this website about 5 months after and had been a tremendous help in terms of bonus ever since. My bonus earnings jumped from $200 per month to $6-700 ever since. I consider myself more of a poker player than a whore since my poker income mostly consists of winnings rather than bonuses and I rarely play more than 3 tables since I won't play good poker if I played more.

I decided to go back to school full time since I did plan to go back to school before I was 30. I do have a BA in Econ and Business, but right now, I'm going to school for Accounting and probably an MBA afterwards or maybe even a PhD. I thought the timing was good since I was making enough from poker to pay my way through school and the outlook in my industry was horrible anyway, which was IT. Also, there's just no way that I could play poker as a full time job since I'd be burnt out. I do like playing poker, but there are other things I love lot more than playing poker. I like having to play 20 hours a week and spend the rest of the time to study and do church work and still have enough money to pay all the bills. Also, I do have career goals besides making money, so I won't be satisfied just playing poker even if I make a lot of money on it. If you can make lot of money like Jek and be happy, more power to you. As for me and lot of the other posters, it's a good way to earn a living while attending school or additional source of income so I think we're all pretty happy.

If you do want to try playing poker for a full time, I agree with AceM and wouldn't worry too much about it becoming outlawed. Poker is so popular these days that whoever is driving an anti-online gambling bill is asking to be not re-elected. In the end, that's all politicians care about anyway. Plus, if it does come to do that, you could always move to Canada. The cost of living is actually cheaper there because of the rent, anyway. Still, if you are thinking of quitting your job to play poker full time, you do have to ask if it's worth the benefit of having a full time job, such as insurance and 401K, as well as playing poker 40-60 hours a week. I absolutely refuse to play that much poker in a week, myself.
