I think one other thing needs to be considered, and that is poker's shakiness with the US government. I have seriously thought about the idea of not working, but it is the legality of poker that worries me the most. I don't want to be a position where I do this for awhile full time and then all of a sudden the government makes an aggressive push to ban online poker. Then you are forced to go back into the job market. Personally, I might consider using poker for income and maybe go back to school full time. I doubt whether I would commit to this full time unless I was fairly sure that online poker would continue to exist, bonuses would keep coming at a decent rate, and that there would always be a reasonable amount of fish. I admit though, it's damn tempting when you are making more online (yes minus 401k and all that jazz) than you are at your job that you feel less than fulfilled by.
