The only problem with clearing bonuses while playing 2/4 and above is measuring out whether or not it's worth your time. It has to do with the action at the limits you want to play and at the availability of the games. Like for example when I cleared the gaming club bonus last month. A horrible site for me. Even during "peak hours" there were close to no options for full table action. 2 2/4 tables (with weak-tight whores playing scared above their bankroll usually) and 1 4/8 table.

Now even though this is technically a 5x bonus, it was not worth my time. The bonus would be worth about $25/hr according to the bonus whores main site (according to personal experience this is about double what the real rate is, but for the sake of proving a point, let's use the $25 figure). So on average at the 2 2/4 and the 1 4/8 table, the bonus is worth 5-6 BB/hr.

Looking at another "bad" bonus, the PokerRoom bonus. At 7x, on paper this should be a worse bonus than the gaming club bonus for a 2-4/5-10 player. But actually it's much better. Playing 4 tables, this bonus according to the BW main site is worth the same $25/hr (however this one actually clears at the stated rate). However, for a winning player, if you're clearing 1 BB/hr, you're making about as much off the bonus as you are off poker. You would have to play twice as well at the gaming club to make the same amount. Also you would have a smaller window to play, whereas on pokerroom you could play any time you want.

The bottom line is that even though $25/hr is $25/hr, when you're playing above 1/2, the difference between 4 tabling at an expectation of .5 BB/hr vs. 4 tabling at an expectation of 1 BB/hr is a noticeable enough difference to make me very careful about the bonuses I would play. I probably won't play a Prima site ever again simply because of this.

But debating whether the bonus is worth my time is silly. $25/hr is pretty much another BB/hr on 4 tables at 3/6. The only reason for me to turn this bonus down is if I could turn my 1 BB/hr at PR into 2 BB/hr at Party. Making that much of an improvement while 4 tabling is near impossible for most. This is why bonuses are invaluable at this level and even beyond, I think.
