Forum: Bonus Whores | No, I don't think mentioning variance is meant to influence you to change your game. It is simply a reminder that yes - sometimes you are just getting bad cards. Even though it is random, stretches of better-than-normal or worse-than-normal hands are guaranteed to come. And sometimes you will be getting seemingly good starting hands, but you just can't hit a flop...
I just finished a 1 week long dry run myself. Felt like I got the normal distribution of starting hands, but I just never made a nut (or near nut) hand, for 7 days running. Flops missed me left and right, and I lost money. Bad run. Variance. Not a rigged site.
Which I can say for sure, since variance swung (as it always does) the other way. Now I am on a 4 day winning streak (much of it on the same sites I lost at); where I am getting more than my fair share of good hands.
It can, and will, swing again. I think that is the point of the variance posts. And my last post was just a suggestion on your playing style, as I suspected it may influence your opponents to play you a certain way. You'll get your good hands, just hang in there, and don't go on tilt. |
