First off as far as playing poker full time I am fortunate because I can quit my job play full time or if I have to I can make a couple of phone calls and go back to work the next day. (right now I planning on going back to work 1st of month. Got an offer I cant refuse) Point have a back up plan.
When I am playing full time I treat it just like a job (I think you have to) I Get up in the morning go for a run or to the gym come home eat a good meal and get on the computer by 8 do some research make my deposits and withdrawls ussally start playing by 9 take an hour lunch go back to playing untill about 5 sometimes a little longer if I need to finish a bonus or on a roll. Weekends off. Works out to about 40 hours a week Easy to do
For setting goals most people fail because they set ther goals to high.
(I think your on the right track just not being realistic about it is all)
Set a short term and a long term goal Keep it simple and realalistic. Then make a plan to achive those goals and follow that plan The old saying "Plan your work and work your plan"
Write your goals on paper and document everything you do.
Lets say a daily, weekly, monthly goal, and then somthing long term
Each day, week, month, review your goals and results. Evaluate and plan.
The best advice I could give you would be to put aside poker for a moment and read some self help books on goal setting and motavation if that sort of thing is new to you.
Also take time each day to improve yourself not just your game but yourself as a person by that I mean mental and phisycal Keep your body and mind sharp.
Do those things and you will not only succeed in poker but in anything you set your mind to.
