I could see how it could be approaching 33% now. Say preflop participation is 40% counting the blinds. At .50/$1 with a $5 pot being required for rake if the game is loose you're at 40%. If it's a tight rock-garden you might be closer to 20%. I often see a heckuva lot of pots won in Holdem that do not go to showdown. Sometimes you're facing calling stations and other times 5 hands go by in a row with a pot under the raked amount.
Limit 0maha 8 would be a good game since there are fewer folds on the flop and you should be approaching the high end.
No Limit Holdem would be a poor game since many pots do not go to showdown and may pots are won preflop and many pots are won with a bet on the flop.
Still, with stud, you're counted as contributing with every pot that qualifies so it's 100%. So stud is x2 , x3, or x4 faster than holdem (depending on how loose the holdem game is and how big the initial pot is. If it's $2/$4 holdem then of course you'll exceed the raked amount quicker).
At .25/.50 holdem you're facing an uphill battle to hit the $5 pot for the rake. With .25/.50 Stud you are much better because you have an extra betting round and stud games go to showdown much more than in holdem.
.25/.50 holdem would suck for contributed or raked. But .25/.50 stud is playable since if it goes to showdown, you've most likely got a raked hand since other players most likely came in on 3rd and played to 4th or 5th streets.
So if you want to clear the bonus amount for the smallest amount of risk, playing at the smallest level possible, with the most efficiency, Stud is by far the best game.
I do concede that Holdem isn't as bad as I thought and I might be getting more contributed hands counting the blinds, especially if the game is loose and has calling stations. So if your holdem game is better than your stud game or you enjoy playing Holdem more, it's cool.... |
