Search engine giant Yahoo! has quietly launched a real-money bingo site on its massively popular UK Games channel.
The software for the site is powered by Canadian firm Parlay Entertainment, which is developing a UK bingo network in partnership with white-label gaming operator St Minver.

And it is believed Yahoo! will become part of Parlay’s network, which will be joined by the UK’s largest land-based bingo operator Gala and Virgin Games later this year.

But the positioning of bingo on Yahoo!’s games channel is by some distance the highest-profile development for the UK bingo sector to-date.

Yahoo! is the world’s most popular internet site, and its games channel is believed to be the most popular play-for-fun gaming destination in the UK.

The bingo site is the second product introduced by the UK division of Yahoo! in recent months as it takes its first steps into online gambling.

Its initial entry into the sector was the launch of a joint-venture betting exchange in April in association with Betfair.

The pared-down exchange offers users the option of fractional odds and built-in commission payments, and is promoted heavily on the Yahoo! Sports channel.
