Topic: Adults-only rating sought for gambling games Forum: Winner Online

The South Australian Government is being asked to reclassify games with gambling themes as adult-only products.

The proposal has been put forward by No Pokies MP Nick Xenophon, who is concerned the games are rated as suitable for children from the age of eight.

He says the games are a source of complaints to his office.

Mr Xenophon's plan is supported by Mark Henley, from the Inter-Church Gambling Task Force, who says gambling games are shown to increase the risks of problem gambling later in life.

"There is a difference between perhaps kids playing cards and card games and something that is ery much set up to look like a casino," he said.

"Casinos are adult places and anything associated with casinos should be absolutely limited to adults to people over the age of 18."
