Actually, many rakeback deals are contributed, but you may not realize it.
Full Tilt Poker, any PokerRoom site, and Doyle's Room all calculate MGR as a function of your contribution to the rake. Pretty normal for many of these sites to do that, as their accounting systems are built on that. (OnGame, for instance, shares the revenue generated as a direct function of how much rake you are actually generating - so a skin that only attracts super-tight TAGs would not make as much money per hand as a site that attracts super fishies.) Absolute and formerly Party were splitting the rake evenly between all players, but that's not common.
All PokerRoom skins can be expressed in terms of rakeback. At a full (10 person) table, a 5x is a 140% rakeback, 7x is a 100% rakeback, 10x is a 70% rakeback, etc. For each less person at a table, it obviously decreases. Since all bonuses are geared to rake generated, the formula is consistent over all limits and game structures. It is actually a pretty slick system, in that at 10x, they can make a fairly consistent profit with the bonus. Anybody who claims a 5x bonus is only a 15% rakeback scheme hasn't done the math, unfortunately. |
