Colly: I don't like the sequence of events at all! I have my thoughts and would love to say what I really think - but that might not be wise! I just hope I'm absolutely wrong!
Apparently they were OK with the date, having just got in. Read the following:
"New Australian law: Gocorp throws in towel
[Tue Dec 12, 2000]
The Federal Governmentīs 12-month moratorium on interactive gaming yesterday claimed its second ictim as Queenslandīs Gocorp indicated it would shut down its Internet casino, Ausvegas. Gocorp, which raised $20 million when it listed in June, told investors yesterday it would be "untenable" for it to continue operating its Internet casino business given the risks associated with any breach of the new legislation.
The bill, passed last week in the Senate, makes it an offence to run an interactive gambling service that was not operating before May 19 this year. Breaches will attract punitive fines: up to $1.1 million a day for companies and up to $200,000 a day for senior company executives.
Although Gocorpīs Ausvegas site launched three days before the cut-off date, it is understood the group has been caught out by the legislationīs fine print, which dictates operators must have had at least one armīs-length paying customer and kept the same name. Ausvegas began attracting customers only in June and originally launched under the name SevenRed. Gocorp indicated it would take legal action against the Federal Government, wanting compensation for the $30 million it has spent developing its business. Any damages claim is expected to be significant.

Article is dated 12 December, but a spokesperson said on that date or after it that it was business as usual until they were informed otherwise. And they accepted our deposits on the evening of 11 December, and others I know on the next day.
I felt it was taking a risk depositing with them, but had found Wrestpoint so honourable, and Lasseters so decent, that I threw caution to the wind. Also Ausvegas had given good customr service previously, but I can't seem to get any answers today. They keep answering my questions with another question! I think I will probably get my money back, but it concerns me that a poster on another board met the promo requirements but is told they will not get the 100% promo which by rights they should. But had they lost, I wonder whether their deposit would have been returned?
