Many of you have probably seen the posts for online casinos.

These casinos often promise lucrative bonuses for new users and even
comp packages that are better than what one might find in Vegas. They
all promise to conform to Carribean regulations and they all use random
number generators. They do. The games, however, ARE NOT FAIR. The
blackjack or Craps that you play on an online casino is similar to the
Video machines you find at real Casinos. They all, without exception,
have tunable odds that in no way reflect the probabilities of the
actual game. The random generator in the game does not simulate actual
decks or dice throws. Rather, it generates results that overall are
consistent with the tuned payout rate. That rate could be .95 on the
dollar. Or it could be .20. Depends on the casino. This is
misleading but perfectly legal in the Carribean. Their laws in no way
dictate that the games simulate real decks or real dice. Rather, the
outcomes [payout rate] simply needs to be random-driven.

While in Vegas you may get machines tuned to pay out .97 or better on
the dollar, online casinos customers are not so fortunate. I have
numerous friends in the business and they tune their Carribean casinos
to pay .85 on a good night and .50 or less on a bad night. Needless to
say, players get DECIMATED at those payout rates.

Generally speaking, Carribean casinos will tune their payouts to the
lowest possible number that doesn't seem like a total rip-off. Usually
they start rather decent when the casino first goes into business and
then fall off dramatically as the customer base expands. Once these
firms have people hooked, they will keep coming back for more
regardless of whether they win or lose.

Bottom line -- Unless you enjoy playing the equivalent of the slots at
the Vegas Airport STAY AWAY FROM THESE ONLINE CASINOS. They aren't
outright scams but they might as well be. By tuning payouts to .70 or
less, they can take most of your money every time.

And, again, it doesn't matter if you play blackjack or craps. It is
trivial for a computer to simulate those games while governing the
payout rate to whatever the operator wants to set.
