I removed SciFi from our site on the basis that I had a confirmed report they were paying in installments; subsequently, a credible player confirmed this specifically to me.
This in no way changes my perspective that the people there are honest; it simply reflects the fact that I've confirmed they are having trouble making payments and thus may well be experiencing financial difficulties. It is important to point out that while I have now received this confirmation, I have received many more reports of timely payouts from SciFi than I have indications of problems.
While it isn't within our site's scope to evaluate the honesty of casinos, when there is credible evidence of payment problems we won't ignore it. I cannot begin to recount the hundreds of clients I have served over the years who were honest people who found themselves in difficult financial straits. I believe that a serious evaluation of the honesty of a casino requires a broad examination of both financial accounting records and program source code, neither of which is accessible to me for any casino (or to other players on this board).
The emotionally-charged posts of "Don the Gambler" had absolutely nothing to do with this decision, as I find him to be a person of little gumption and zero credibility. I recognize this board has a long-running love affair with Don, but his bashing of SciFi and other casinos has been, in my iew, a misrepresentation of the facts. I do not believe SciFi deserved the bashing they have taken on this board, and I sincerely hope their current financial situation didn't result from his unfair attacks.
I believe SciFi continues to offer the best ideo poker games available on the Internet; but they need to be in a position to make immediate payment of all wins, large or small. I have an account with SciFi and haven't the slightest discomfort playing there; but the games I play aren't going to render a jackpot that impacts their cash flow, either.
Several other casinos were removed from our site at the same time, for arious reasons. In particular, there were a couple that had previously received extremely heavy play that over the last few months had received little or no play; I have taken this to mean that players were dissatisfied with them. The name of the software developer had nothing whatsoever to do with the decision.
