In other words, I will take 15% of 10K net per month, over 25% of 1K net any day.

Absolutely, positively, any day of the week.

The problem lies in what DHCM mentioned - explaining that to the webmasters. This is because, when signing up for an affiliate program, they have no basis on which to calculate the potential casino drop. So 50% of revenues will always look better than 20% of revenues.

There will always be a few of us who can see the difference, and will work hard enough to make sure that it pays - but the key word is "few".

For example, CON offer me a high CPA, but I don't run them because I am competing against thousands of other advertisements, and I don't have the level of traffic to make that kind of an uphill battle profitable.

Yet there are casinos out there who have offered me 10% - and I don't take them on because they do not do enough work to get their name known.

It's ery difficult to find the right balance which will produce a win-win situation for portal operators and casino owners. Whilst casino operators might be able to get by without dealing with some portal operators, I think in nearly every case, if they did not deal with the portals, they would not be making money.

I would be interested in knowing where you ran the test, as well as the scale of the test. As I said, I think the idea has merit, but I'd sure like to see a clear way in which it works for all concerned.

Also, don’t forget that the casino could pay (if necessary) a higher percentage by simply paying after “Money Back” had been calculated. If you think about it, that would be a more fair way to do it anyway. So if a player dropped $4,000 and the casino gave him back $1,000, the webmaster would be paid on the remaining $3,000 (not the original drop.)

Quite true. But like DHCM pointed out, it's hard to explain this to a webmaster.

I have examples in which I take 25% profit - but one group of casinos, where in fact I have the most customers, I never make a dime. Don't ask me why but the results bear out the point that the bare number (25%) may not result in profits - so obviously I cannot spend a lot of time promoting this group. Most other groups, I *always* make money except where someone has hit a jackpot or something.

If a casino can properly show how the percentage is calculated, and provide a reasonable figure on average player activity, I might be interested. But your example most closely resembles the group of casinos which I never make money at, unfortunately.

Of course, I'm trying to dump all the affiliate stuff as it is difficult to budget for a business based on such high income fluctuation. But I have put in enough time to know what is working and what isn't, I think.

DHCM -

Exactly what you said - shortsightedness. But this also applies to casinos who continually chase new players without taking care of their existing clientele - they think that by throwing money at crowds, they can attract more customers.

This model, unfortunately, has failed miserably in many different online sectors, and will soon enough fail in this sector as well.

To put this in perspective, the current average banner clickthrough rate is less than 1%. In Asia, where the Dr. Ho name is as well known as Trump is in North America, we get 5%-15% clickthrough rates.

Exactly why everyone predicts that the arrival of the Vegas casinos on the scene will spell the demise of independent operators. The problem with this is that the Vegas casinos are not known in Asia, except perhaps for Caesar's Palace - and the only marketable name in Asia is Dr. Ho (or perhaps the Lisboa/Lizzybo!) - so there is a bit more room for them to operate here.

One of the things we learned when we tried to set up the www.drholite.com affiliate program is that offering a 20% commission almost always looks worse to a webmaster than a 40% commission, even if the 40% commission is from a disreputable or boring, non-differentiated casino.

Very true in most cases. But I suspect those who have been around a while (Casinomeister, Fairbet, Got2Bet, WinnerOnline as examples) have a bit more common sense.

In my case, the reason I don't carry drholite is because I am skeptical of the ability of Boss Media's affiliate software to accurately report results. I ended up with much the same results as the group I mentioned above. If and when they fix this I will be most pleased to carry drholite or any other BM site with a reasonable reputation.

I have to a little disagree that "bad software & few bonuses don't matter". In fact, bad software is always annoying, only when you are playing smooth that you feel pleasant in the first place no matter win or lose afterwards.

Well, I think I went a bit too general on this quote, but given the little choice in the Chinese-language market, I believe this to be true. DHCM may be able to explain this a bit more from his experience - but soon the software will definitely count. Still skeptical of the bonuses but I don't know any Chinese person who would turn down a freebie, either. But can you retain them afterwards?

Take HK & Taiwan for example, I have never found one casino which offers support in spoken Chinese

Dr Ho?

Your other points, of course, I agree with fully! Yet operators persist in asking me if they can get away with English software and a Chinese-language website... I have been hammering this point home now for over a year and only now are the manufacturers and operators listening. World Gaming's model (English software, Chinese website) is at best a band-aid.

The time has come, however - the big boys in online gaming are releasing Chinese ersions. It's just a matter of time before exactly what you are hoping for will come true - and I'm relatively certain Dr. Ho will get there first

As for long posts - yes, this thread really has me interested and as a result I am writing a lot more here - but in the beginning I was also prone to writing long explanations LOL. There are a lot of great ideas and discussions in this thread - which really should be in a new thread, BTW, so I apologize for being off-topic - and I only wish more casino and portal operators would take notice of the things being discussed here!
