joeyl,

Your point is THE point. Look over the boards here and you will find that there was so much "patterns" people discuss, and most of them were ad-hoc patterns, or even worse, "handpicks".

BUT, if the sample is "clean" i.e. one has define BEFOREHAND what he is going to count, and define exactly what he meant to. It will be legitimate.

THE DEFINITION:
a sample has to meet the following 2 requirements:
1) Having the "pattern" at claim clearly defined before the events occur. Or at least being a well known and accepted "pattern" to test with it reliablity. (example: XXX units lost through a XXX hands session.)
2) Having the facts to be correct. i.e. counting things accurately, and knowing the strategy used if strategy dependent gasmes are at stake.
This second requirement may be seen "needless to say" by most people. But you would not beleive how much people are missing in counting hands etc. let alone where a complicated pattern is the claim. Most people did not play 100% correct Basic strategy in BJ although they are sure they do.
