I think we are already seeing meaningful online gambling regulatory bodies shaping up in the Isle of Man and Alderney, and perhaps eventually even in Nevada (federal legislative moves permitting) Those licences will be the ones you can rely on because they really mean business, hold contingency deposits, have stringent requirements and will have true player complaint servicing when it comes to the casinos they licence.

My personal hope is that their advent will pressure other more "flags of convenience" licencing jurisdictions to smarten up too - for too long they have taken the dollars but done little in the way of effective regulation even when receiving player complaints.

I always thought the Aussies were leading the way in true regulation until their federal government starting tinkering with internet gambling bans and confused the whole issue.

In general my opinion is that things are getting better slowly but surely. The players are also more discerning now and once the "guarantee" of really safe and fair gambling implied by true regulation takes hold their business will be a major deciding factor for casinos.
