I have to say that is a pretty generic item to issue a patent on. It seems as though one could argue that it wasn't even their idea in the first place, so they have no rights to an IP patent on the subject.
OTB's have always used computer networks for this purpose, although they do not really involve an RNG. However, interlinked banks of progressive slot machines also operate as a computer network, and have been around much longer than 94, so I guess it's really a matter of what constitutes game functions being on the client side.
At any rate, I was just wondering - Can anyone file these UK patents and hold businesses in that country accountable? I notice that their management team is divided between Canada and Australia, so it seems a bit odd that they don't have a single person in the UK.
Also, Mary, is there a place to read the entire text of the patent? They seem to have some impressive names, both online and off, as clients. It could be that the patent is credible, or maybe that they would just rather pay the bill than deal with the headache, but it is something interesting I would like to catch up on more.
