Normally I used a deck of cards (minus 2) to count how much I played.
I started with the deck face up and drop one card at a time whenever I placed a bet. After the 50 cards are dropped, I turn the deck up side down and do it again. That way when I have a deck of cards laying on the table face down, I know I had played 100 units. I then stack a coin on the desk. Simple as that.
It's easy and every accurate, even a biginner can count with his/her left hand only. Keeping a good records make me aware of how much I win/lost, and how likely the game is random.
