In my book any game of chance is a game that doesn't play to absolutes most of the time. Most hands in poker range between 50/50 to 65/35 before you see the flop. Once in awhile you can get better odds. Is this not chance? There are no 100% win hands in poker. There for you are playing odds no absolutes. Therefore it is a game of chance.

Skill does come into the equation poker. You decide when to stop. You can let hands go once you are behind and staying in while you think you are ahead. There are ery few times you truely hold the nuts that won't be changes with the next card. So you are always hedging edges and not absolutes.

How do you think it is not is not a game of chance? We have a whole section dedicated to chance. The bad beat section is full of hands where the odds are against them losing yet they still do.

In any casino game...the amount that you are able to decrease the house edge...is measured in tenths of a percent....and that change will remain constant over many many plays....whereas in poker...from hand to hand...your odds can change measured in 10's of percent....the skill of the other players...your own skill....and attentativeness....the number of players....heck, the time of day.....they can all cause fluctuations in the outcome....whereas....no matter what your skill level or anything else....any other casino game...the house is pretty much solid....with as I said before a fluctation measured in normally less than a 1%.....although, the house may make money on every hand....taking into account what I've said here..more so than not....your skill is going to be your success and failure mechanism....not a house edge....for that reason....even with the luck factor built in....the raised amount of skill involved in poker...as opposed to the built in house edges in any other game....skill outweighs chance....imho.
