I too am rooting for Ivey, but I'm not optimistic that he will win. At times he plays ery aggressively, and one bad beat basically kills you at this stage. Also, he has terrible luck in the TV tournaments. I just hope he doesn't get any AQ hands. That's the opposite equivalent of the Doyle Brunson 10/2 hand.
As for the "best player" tag, I have heard so many players referred to as "maybe the best all-around player", or "best money game player". There is only one best, so why are so many people called the best? A good case can be made for Ivey, but it can be for many others too (Negreanu 2 WPT wins, POY), Brunson (2 WSOP titles, WPT title, 10 bracelets), Chan (2 WSOP titles, 10 bracelets), and so on. Chip Reese, Howard Lederer, Dan Harrington. I don't think one player can be called the best.
