read books but don't follow the rules exactly

i.e. caro's book of tells generalizes certain motions/movements as tells for a bluff or tells of strength

pros who have read the book could purposely be doing a movement considered to be a tell for a bluff when really they are holding a monster

just read the books, take in the information in and judge your opponents play by your own analysis...but reading the books will help give you more information to analyze with
