The biggest sanction is that Absolute Poker is losing tons of business from people who will no longer or won't ever start playing there due to the bad publicity. Absolute Poker also santioned themselves by refunding funds to many players who were affected.
The subject of influencing (AKA "rigging") online poker play by a site itself has been done to death. It would not benefit any prosperous business to risk losing their clientel by getting caught doing something like trying to end SNG's sooner.
