Topic: Flush question Forum: Card Chat

For some reason, my group and I can never get the answer to who wins if 2 or more people have straights in the same hand. I know a hand is made up of the best 5 cards... so if, say, an 4, 6, 9 and Jack of clubs is on the board, and one person has a King of clubs and another has the Queen of clubs - the player with the King of clubs wins. BUT if the board has an ace of clubs... then what? Does it go to the 2nd highest card or does it automatically become a split pot because the HIGHEST ranking club is an Ace, which everyone can use to make the best 5 card hand? I know its a basic question, but we often argue over it. I keep telling them its a split pot because of the Ace, while another feels since they also had a king of clubs, they should win over the person who had the Queen of clubs - even though there's an Ace of clubs on the board. Who's right?
