Welcome to the Poker General board!
A brief summary of what should and shouldn't be posted here, so that we can hopefully keep having to move threads around to a minimum. New and old members alike should take note of this, as I still see some old hands posting things in the wrong place.
What should be posted here:
Topics with general poker content that aren't covered by any of the other boards. This may include, but is not restricted to...
- Poker news stories.
- Poker queries not related to strategy issues (such as issues with rules, questions regarding poker literature, and so on).
- Topics regarding poker on TV.
- General poker narratives.
- Any other topic relating to poker in general that does not fall under the specifics of any of the other poker boards.
Basic strategy posts or queries are also fine here, as the Poker Strategy forum is intended for more 'advanced' discussion. If you're not sure though, post it to the Strategy board.
What should not be posted here:
- Anything that is prohibited by the rules, such as spam.
- Any strategy points or queries (post to the Poker Strategies board).
- Any questions regarding specific poker sites or B&M poker rooms/casinos (post to the Playing Poker board).
- Any hand histories for review (post to the Hand Analysis board).
- Bad beat stories (use the Bad Beats subforum).
- Anything with no poker content (use the relevant board in the General Discussion section, which will usually be the Players' Lounge).
Finally, a brief note on 'topicality' (is that even a word?)

To be clear about off-topic thread diversions, there's no actual rule on it so it's down to personal interpretation, but as far as I'm concerned any non-poker thread can go down whatever path the posters choose as long as the topic is not deliberately being hijacked. I do like to see poker threads stay relatively on-subject though.
