Topic: Were they right to do so? Forum: Casino Meister

This is part of MiniVegas. They went on a locking spree around the time of your issue. They claimed that even players NOT using bonuses were engaging in "illegitimate play", and tried to confiscate winnings.
Many players engaging in said "illegitimate play" were registering their accounts in Pounds, even though they did not live in the UK. Although they took no bonus, this actually benefited their "illegitimate play", as it meant no WR restrictions, or account audit (or so they thought).
This is the only credible reason why some MG casinos confiscate from players who play in "the wrong currency" yet take no bonus.
They were briefly rogued for failing to deal with this properly, and in the end had to pay players who had not broken the terms.

It does not matter if it was a year and a half ago, if they were members of eCogra at the time, they can be the subject of a complaint, and this would be pretty damning as their rep assured the forum that all the outstanding issues had been taken care of surrounding this event, which took place during the latter half of 2006.
The terms in this case dictate a return of deposit, and this was not done.

Players should be aware that the old advice to "not take a bonus and all will be fine" is no longer alid, you have to read the terms and conditions just as igilantly as the "bonus whore", or risk being an easy target for a screwing over, as casinos are stemming their losses from the "clever" players, and the loss of the US market, by instigating a zero tolerance approach to payment if even a minor infringement is detected. In the past, casinos would have these measures, but prided themselves in only using them in exceptional circumstances, now they are used 100% if they are offered a means not to pay. They also gain, because they don't refund the deposits of losers, and losers do not even know they may be due a refund. Any player who falls foul of this kind of term is simply giving the casino their money. If they win, they only get their deposit back, if they lose, they lose, never knowing they never had a chance to win from that deposit.

Modifying the software to prevent the wrong currency being used is easy, and it is funny that professional programers, who can produce these splendid casino applications, are at a loss when it comes to programming in player safety measures to trap invalid registration information.
