There is one overriding difference between tourneys and ring games that you have to be concious of- you must push finer edges in ring games. in tourneys it's often correct to fold marginal hands, resist value betting, fold draws, etc, in order to protect your stack and get up in the money. in ring games, if a move is +EV, you make it, peroid.
This is why i'm no good at tourneys, i tend to bet if i think i have even a tiny advantage. also, it bugs the hell out of me when i flop a monster hand and don't see an immediate payout for my skillful play. one suckout doesn't break you in ring games.
ring games ARE far more profitable, long run, IMO. good for you for making the switch, you'll forget all about tournament play soon. GL. |
