I have been playing for over a year and a half. I have had some success along the way. My rough estimates are that I have played over 500k hands. I have won (small) and placed well in tournaments and have actually made a decent amount of money.

I have gotten to a point where the highest highs are not even on the same scale as the lowest lows. I know all to well that the lows are just poker. When your set of K's loses to a flopped straight. Thats poker. QQ vs KK? Poker. KK vs AA? Poker. Flush over flush? Poker. AA to runner runner straight? Poker. At this point in my play it is not about the money. My current dry spell has not even been to costly.

I think the key thing to ask yourself is this. Are you having fun? I have gotten to the point where I want to just win money. Not to have fun but to cash a nice profit when I play and that honestly makes it work.

So I guess the point of my message is to keep all of your success and failures in perspective. Play this game for fun unless you absolutely need the money. I myself have to take a step back and decide if this game can be fun again.
