Topic: crazy flop, huge bet, what do you do? Forum: Bonus Whores
$100 NL game (don't even know why I was in this game, I've been playing 95% limit for the past 2 months and this is still over my comfort level money wise, but I had had a good rush earlier and decided to give it a shot for at least 1 buy in)

I had about $150 in the BB. Villain has about $175 on the button. A tricky and aggressive player, probably the best at the table.

I have KK. 2 limpers, a min raise, cold call, then the villain makes it $5 to go, I make it $10, all fold to villain, villain calls.

Flop comes AAK.

I bet $15, Villain calls. Turn is a blank. I check (that call just screams AK at me). Villain pushes all-in for like $150.

What do you do?

My thought process. It was certainly likely that Villain had AK or AA, in which case I was drawing dead. However, the huge show of brute strength didn't make any sense. If Villain has the nuts, why not just fire another pot sized bet out. Villain may have been trying to buy all the passive money already on the table originally (limps, minraises, cold call) certainly he doesn't have to have AK to raise from the button. But maybe he knows that I know this screams bluff and will call him for all his money even when he has the nuts?

In the end I decided it was just way too likely that Villain had AK and folded. Villain showed me QQ. I cried at my lost opportunity to double up against another bigger stack, and at folding my spectacular boat. I tried to figure out if I didn't call because I was somewhat scared money at a NL table, and at a NL table above my comfort zone. But, I don't think that was it. I don't think it was a bad play. AK is just too common of a hand to raise with and I had no outs against it. Am I right?

I feel like I showed weakness with my turn check, and the Villain attacked that weakness. But I can't see how to play it differently.
