Forum: Bonus Whores | I started playing poker last summer for the first time in home games with my friends, usually just 10$ buy in NL. I was quickly the best, and took away about 500$ for the summer (not bad for the small stakes). This summer I've made three trips to a casino in New York and played in my first ever real tournaments. My 2nd try I finished 7/85 in a NL tournament, losing with 88 to A 8. My first try in a limit tournament last week I also finished 7/88 losing with 10 10 to 7 7. I've also won money playing 5-10 everytime.
Now I'm wondering if there is a poker book anyone thinks is really helpful for someone who has a good feeling of cards already. Someone at the casino recommended "Tournament Poker and the Art of War" which I've bought and started reading, but I'm wondering if there is anything else I'm really missing out on or if books are generally pretty worthless. I have not read Super System.
CasinoWhoring is fun because of the money, but poker is fun because its actually fun. |
