Mac, I think you may be a bit off on the odds. According to Sklansky 9 outs, such as a flush, is 36%. This is a debate for the math guru's here. He didn't explain why but you aren't supposed to take the strait math calculation of 9/47 cards and then 9/46 cards.

But you are correct that you don't have to be exact. Playing 2 tables at a time and trying to calculate exact odds and then match to your pot odds drives me crazy. I just memorized the basic drawing hands such as flushes and straits. Anything with more outs you are almost always in no matter what. Anything less than you have to decide what is on the table vs what your draw is. When betting on the turn card I will be more inclined to use the odds to make a decision but if there were bets on the flop and you played then your odds are probably still good enough to make at least a one bet call.
