I think in the grand context how I used the phrase (rather than the creative editing which you chose to isolate) was reasonably fair. there is ample discussion of pot odds in ITH where the OP's request to have a "better understanding" would not be significantly improved with another book. rather, there were probably other issues with his game where SSHE could improve upon in ways he was not aware of (and obviously we both agree on the recommendation of Sklansky/Miller et al). and I did also recommend King Yao should he really want a super mathematical approach to DIPO and whathot.

of course learning pot odds is important. but at 50c/$1 and $1/2 where a player makes as much as 5-10BB/100 just from bonuses, is it necessarily a top priority to become a thorough "expert" on the subject and push tiny edges that hard? again, ITH should have been sufficient and the OP probably has a decent grasp but needed enlightenment on other topics. the other replies in this thread already convinced him to go and buy SSHE which he did last night. then you show up to the party late, repeat what everyone else already figured out, and then try to misquote me out of context without taking into account the entire story of this thread (and at 4am to boot). now THAT is what seems silly to me.
