Without it, whining about bad beats is just that - whining. And you will never improve if you just keep saying to yourself that those damn fish are getting lucky and sucking out on you every time...
When you are interested in improving, and trying different tactics, you will do way better in the long run. So I think you are off to a good start.
A couple of things about loosening up on loose tables:
1) Beware of loosning up too much if the table is loose and aggressive. On such a table you will be forced to pay more than you'd like for your draws and non-nut made hands.
2) When loosening up, don't resort to playing the same hands the fish do. If you expand your starting hand requirements, go in the direction of good drawing hands. At a loose and passive table, you can do well by including more small suited connectors and low pairs into your starting hands. I wouldn't start playing A-rag offsuit though, while a suited ace can be a decent drawing hand.
Your goal when loosening up is hitting big hands and outplaying your opponents post flop. Against calling stations this usually involves straight forward betting and raising - no need to get tricky. Playing hands like A6o doesn't really offer you any good draws, and you can find yourself paying off a better ace if you pair.
Anyway, just some thoughts. Keep thinking about your game, read some books, work on improving your play. Bad beats still happen, but you should be winning in the long run. |
