Any 1st book is good. It gives you just enough knowledge to know where you should study.

I think reading Phils book 1st would be better then reading Skalanskys book. If a book gets you to learn the game and is interesting - it's a good book.

I read it - didn't like it but there are ALWAYS something in any book that is worthwhile.
