1. Table selection and opponent observation are key.
2. Sometimes you just have to let the hand go no matter how pretty it is.
3. If there is only one card you are afraid of and the ROCK just reraised you, he has it.
4. The MANIAC will always have a real hand when you decide to take a stand with JJ.
5. If you keep seeing the same players show up at your table on Party and you proceed to lose your hard won gains. They have you on their buddy list. Pick up and find another game then turn on the "Hide from Search" feature.
6. Like the Outlaw Josey Wales 'Ya gotta have an edge'. Use PokerTracker, GT+, a notebook, whatever just start keeping notes.
7. Bad Beats and suckouts happen. Quit bitching and get over it. No one cares and it makes you an even bigger target later.
8. A supportive friend, wife, whatever can help you control tilt and remind you it is time to turn off the computer.
7. Finally, stay within your comfort zone til your ego and bankroll can handle it.
My first 3 months of online poker were horrible. In short I lost my whole BM yearly BR in 90 days on line. Started of winning big then losing huge!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wasn't til I took some time offline read some books and started lurking on BW and 2+2 that i realized i was outclassed and unarmed. Playing online isnt like showing up at a casino with a wad of cash. There are assistant programs, databases, colluders, bots, fish and pure sharks out there all wanting your cash. The last 3 months have been slightly profitable but it will be a long stretch of solid tight BWing to make up my loss. To all of you who I donated to under my original screen names on Party and Doyle's thanks for the lessons.
