Nothing wrong with how Black and Kantor played the hands (both players were being the hyper-aggressive players that got them to that point - and Kantor was the perfect CL donkey if there ever was one), but Black should have been kicking himself if he sees this on TV.
I really liked Hechem on that last hand after the turn card is dealt. Looks quickly to make sure he has straight, then says to Dannemann something like "Isn't this fun?", then showing that subtle yet obvious smirk when Dannemann goes into his "Aw, shucks, I'm just happy to be here" routine.
Maybe it just seemed too obvious because it was on TV and all, but Hechem's table banter and facial reactions could be construed as tells that should have clued his opponent that top pair with straight draw was dominated - but given that they played 14-16 hours at the final table, one can forgive someone for not being as sharp as the rest of us watching from home months later. |
