I played for fun for that time and was succesful at clearing 2 bonus' and left with more money in my pocket than I came in with. But I want to get serious, real serious about my play and hopefully become a succesful online poker player. I've picked up Killer Online Poker book and I just order Sklansky's Low limit Texas Hodlem. I know the Sklansky book has starting hands chart but I wont have that for 2 weeks and wanted to start getting them memorized. So what is your guys starting hands list and whered you get it. BTW my game is limit texas holdem Thansk a lot guys
try xxx.lowlimitholdem.com if you want a decent guide to low limit holdem. I assume you know how to get to the page but I didn't want to stick in a working link. I can't tell if it would be considered a BW competitor but it sucks for bonus info and obviously you'd want to use the signup links at BW. It does provide you with some rudimentary info on what hands to play, etc (including a chart mostly pulled from Sklansky's book, mostly). It's what I used for advice when I first started playing Party .5/1 LHE way back when (the advice works best for those sort of very loose games with lots of people seeing a flop). It might get you started while you wait for the book.
[edit] just noticed that you got at least one book. I imagine that a lot of the info on the site I noted would get repeated and probably expanded upon. It might be easier to print their charts I suppose if you need a cheat sheet. And from the discussion above, yes the Party sites aren't nearly as loose as they once were so you'll want to avoid many of the hands from the "late position only" section.
I thought a good bit about WHY they recommended the hands they did so I didn't miss as much by using the chart. They don't really say why you might want to play certain hand over others and this can be critically important. Frankly I might be more inclined to fold an A9o in late position with a ton of limpers and more inclined to play 98o in the same situation. It's perfectly reasonable for someone to limp with AJ or AT and they have that A9 dominated. 98 sucks but if you miss the flop it's easy to dump and when it does hit you tend to kick the crap out of people who played two big cards and hit top pair with a decent kicker, or two pair. Hit an ace on the flop with A9 and you could chase someone with a better kicker all the way to the river and a 9 high top pair hand is hard to have hold up. |
