To begin lets assume that you are 18+, if not there WILL come a day when a poker room will ask for proof of identity and then you might have a serious problem getting your money out.

Your first few sessions as a whore will mislead you about the income potential from bonus whoring. The sign-up bonuses are rich and usually clear faster then the reload bonuses. Soon enough you will be left to play much poorer bonuses. The bonus grid will give you some idea about this problem.

Also you will find that many bonuses need to be cleared at higher limits. Your bankroll will need to be carefully nurtured - bad runs will happen no matter how good you are. If you are going to make 1K / month you are going to need a bigger bankroll.

While it is possible to make a large income playing single table at high limits, it is not easy to do that at the lower levels. It might not even be possible unless your win rate is quite good. Practically speaking you will need to learn to play several hands at once and move up at least to 1/2 while maintaining a good win rate to have any realistic hope to make 1K / month. (No Limit offers other options, but it is the same general situation.)

You will need poker tracker and a head-up display program to play several tables. Together they cost less than $100. Get them as soon as your bankroll can take the hit.

Keep your part time job until you work your bankroll up. It is hard to juggle your games across several poker rooms with much less than $2,000. If your win rate is still good at that point, then reevaluate your situation. The bonus world is changing fast. Things are going to be much different by the time you hit $2,000

It is very hard to make more money playing cards than you can make working. A few people can, but very few. Keeping in mind that I am older than dirt - - I suggest you consider playing poker as a profitable hobby not your job. Go to school, get a good education and take a 'normal' job. Once your skills are honed, it is possible to make 10K / year which isn't much to live off of but is a FINE source of mad money. If the Poker Gods smiled on you and made you into a future pro - great. If not, have fun while you rake in a nice bit of pocket money.
