I like to use my early morning walk to get the paper as time for reflection. (It is a 3-mile round trip to get my 'home' delivery newspaper, it takes an hour or so. I live in the middle of nowhere at the end of a 1 & 1/2 mile dirt road.)
I start by pulling up my PT stats for the last day. Before I take my walk, I look at my overall results and then look over the big winners / losers. If I remember a specific hand, I will go look at it. If things look 'strange', I will see if it was a lucky/unlucky run of cards or strange table conditions or me breaking form.
For me, there is no substitute for looking at specific hands. one by one. Often I think I know what happened last night, but find out I am wrong upon review.
Once I get a few things in mind, I start my hike. Over that hour I mull over what was good and what was bad. If I need to look up information, I have to wait till I get home but generally do finish my homework. Occationally, I write myself a note to post on my monitor when I just can't seem to learn my lesson.
Just because I review my hands doesn't mean it works qucikly. At the moment, I need to have a little voice whispering "it's only one-pair" when I get killed over betting an over-pair. I have been working on this for months. While it is better, I still leak big time in these situations.
(I donked off 6BB last night in one limit hand when it was obvious that KK was going to run into a set - or in this case, two sets. The flop cameT63 rainbow and the villains went bezerk. When I looked at the hand this morning I was really bummed out. It was SO obvious that my kings couldn't be good and yet I blew off 300 hands worth of work in 15 seconds of stupidity.) <shrug>
Playing many tables at once is destructive to your game. Not only do you not improve, but you have so little time to think that you miss a lot about what is going on. It may be true that you make more money 6-tabling vs playing one or two tables but the only realy hope to upgrade your game / fix leaks is to play fewer tables and think about what you are doing.
