It makes sense to me. People often like to appear impressive, and they may feel that millions of play chips looks impressive. $20 at a $0.50/$1 table just isn't very impressive.
I'm not sure if that's the kind of answer you were looking for, though. Sometimes people use "I don't understand why someone would buy X" to mean "I'd never buy X." In that case, I certainly agree with you. I would not buy play chips at any price unless I could resell them for a large enough profit to be worth my time. |
