Yes, I suppose this would be a second way to get information. But I think this would be far, far harder than the already difficult task of getting rogue software installed on your opponents' computers.

Let's assume that you can somehow break in to the database (an already difficult task, and perhaps an impossible one if the hands are not stored in the database until completion). Then you still have two problems:

1) Avoiding detection. You will be making extremely suspicious database queries, and you will be making a lot of them in short periods of time. The figurative (maybe literal? ) alarm bells will be ringing at security HQ.

2) Correctly interpreting the data. I'd be surprised if they don't have custom databases that require a proprietary interface to make and interpret queries. If the data is encrypted, you'd definitely need to get your hands on this interface to have any hope.
